Week 8
Dear friends,
In this week's class, I
learned about stress in the family. Stress can cause in any way. Stress can
affect any person due to variations from an external source or internal source
or even both. Failing to manage personal or professional life and family life
can result in adverse challenges in marriage life. This can even create stress
in the kids. Sometimes if there are high conflicts and yelling among the
parents then the chances of having suicidal thoughts in the kids' increase. The
behavior and nature of kids have a lot of effects when there is stress and
conflicts in the home. Apart from the kids, if you see the influence of stress
on the married couple it plays a great role psychologically, emotionally,
physically. Do you know? in any relation when a problem arrives or when stress
is building up, we can really see the attitude and problem-solving skills of
the partner.
External stress is very
hard to handle alone, but if there is support of another person to handle the
stress it is easy to overcome. When there is a friend or someone to support to
handle the stress, it becomes lighter. Now assume that if your life partner
stood as a support then how easy it would become to handle the eternal
pressure.
Why some families are
able to successfully bounce back from a problem/stress? This is because the way
they handled it unitedly. Let me share you the ABCX model. Reuben Hill studied
families who survived the great depression and contrasted these families with
those families that did not remain intact after the depression He developed his
ABCX model in the year 1949.
Here the words A B C X
represents the following:
A - The main stressor or
the event
B - The resources
available to overcome it
C - Perception of the
families towards the stressor
X - The likelihood of
crisis or can also be called the Experience
So for this model we can
understand that for every stress there is a cause or something or an event
involved . To overcome the stress first we need to identify it. It may be one
or two or might be a piled-up challenges. Second, we need to analyze the
available resources around us. They might be family, money, education, talents,
neighbors, friends, Government Aid or benefits, Properties, Congregation, or
some other resource which help you overcome the stress. Perception of the families
towards the stress is the key step to overcome the stress. A qualitative
analysis explores the themes of the reported family conflict. This is the key
way in obtaining a right solution the come out of the stress.
Apart from the family or
in the family the stress is sometimes built - in. This mostly happens among the
people who are very honest, good, innocent and sometimes unwise or the fools.
Sorry to say this. This is caused when these people see injustice for a problem
in their life or someone else life. Those wonderful souls cannot control the
pain of the injustice. This leads to anger and one fine time it burst out as
stress was in peak moment.
Up to some part of my
life I thought that stress, anxiety, and depression are same. The reality is
they all three are different. So far from the above we have learning about
stress. Now I will tell you about Anxiety. Anxiety is a normal behavior of
life. Anxiety leads us do something since it is led by your emotional state.
Google says that anxiety is the intense, excessive and persistent worry and
fear about everyday situations. For example: Fear, heart rate, rapid breathing,
seating and feeling tired may occur due to this. Anxiety can be normal in stressful
situations such as public speaking. Anxiety and stress together can be
dangerous or very beneficial to us. This depends on the way how we react and
take the situation.
So, the other topic I am
telling you is depression. This is the invisible weapon which attacks us unknowingly.
It is the state of feeling low or fell down.
Anxiety, stress and
depression all together can even kill a person. The first best medicine to
overcome is stop thinking about it. Come out of it. Take the help of profession
counselors or psychiatrist and just be happy with you and what you have.
Millions of neurons in Brain are dying every day and millions of new and unused
neurons are generated on the same time. It is up to us to see the glass as half
full and move on this life with a great positivity attitude. Family is the
center of God creation and core unit of the society. When everyone in the
family is happy then there is joy.
